Kenya: Ruiru Violent Husband Gets Six Months

A man who followed his wife into a church in Ruiru and started calling her a dog and prostitute before hitting her with a stone has been jailed for six months by a Thika court. Sylvester Kihiu Kihuko was convicted and sentenced by principal magistrate D.A Orimba. He had denied assaulting Christine Nyambura at Murera estate in Ruiru, Kiambu county, on October 28 last year.

The magistrate said the prosecution led by Chief Inspector Josephine Wambua had proved its case against the accused person beyond any reasonable doubt. Orimba recalled that on the material day, the accused wife (complainant) left for church unaware that the accused was trailing her. The court heard that no sooner had the complainant walked into the church that the accused popped in and started calling his wife names leaving the congregation with mouth agape.
