Kenya: Karoki and Company Determined to End 44-Year Jinx in 10,000m

ALL Africa Games 10,000m silver medallist Bedan Karoki believes time has come to end the country's 44-year wait for gold medal in the 25-lap race. Karoki will team up with former Africa 10,000m champion Wilson Kiprop and Moses Masai in the campaign to bring hope the gold medal. The three made the Kenya team after finishing top three in the national trials held at Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.

Karoki said their hard work in training will not count for nothing as they are determined to end the country's jinx in the race. "I know with Ethiopians around, it will be a very tough race but I am ready to do the country proud and win the gold, It's been quite a while and I know we can do it," he added. He said running in the USA was key as it had similar altitude and weather conditions expected in London later this month. "The altitude will be the same in London and having competed in U.S. gives us a head-start over the rest," he said.
