A judge at the International Criminal Court has denied bail to former president Laurent Gbagbo.

The information was reported by Soir Info (p. 3) which noted that ICC judge Silvia Fernandez de Gurmendi argued that under the current circumstances the ex-leader cannot be granted bail, citing potential risks and interference a release of the ex-leader could have on the case.

The hearing to confirm the charges against Mr. Gbagbo, who is accused of human rights abuses and blood crimes, is scheduled to start on August 13.
