Zimbabwe: Zim Urged to Showcase Artifacts in China

Henan Province — Zimbabweans should take advantage and showcase the country's artifacts in China's province of Henan to enhance cultural relations between the two countries, a senior Chinese government official has said.

Henan is home to some of the world's various artifacts. Addressing delegates from the Ministry of Education, Arts, Sport and Culture touring Henan Museum, the director and researcher of the museum Mr Wenjun Zhang said the province's museum was open to Zimbabwean artworks.

"We will certainly assist your country to organise an exhibition here on artworks that are relevant to your people's culture and aspirations.

"We would love to see and share with you some of your country's artworks that focus on Zimbabwe's archaeological historical relics, which I believe will be shared by the whole world because Henan Museum has become one of the biggest cultural centres and a hub of Chinese's culture and its origins."

Education, Arts, Sport and Culture Deputy Minister Lazarus Dokora, who is leading the delegation, said Zimbabwe stood to benefit from the cultural exchange because of the province's cultural richness .

Henan province is considered as the cradle of Chinese's history and culture.

"We are in the process of liaising with the relevant departments and ministries to ensure that we will include some of those components when we renew the existing executive programme between China and Zimbabwe on cultural relations."
