Tunisia Takes Part in Inter-Arab Meetings in Doha

Tunis — Foreign Affairs Minister Rafik Abdessalem took part on Sunday evening in a set of ministerial meetings held in Doha on the Arab Peace Initiative and the Arab Ministerial Committee on the Situation in Syria and the Arab League Council.

At the end of the ministerial meetings, a resolution on the follow up of the latest developments in Syria was adopted, a Foreign Ministry's statement said Monday.

A Declaration on the Arab Peace Initiative Committee was also published. A second Declaration released after the meetings expressed Arab countries' support for the call of the King of Saudi Arabia to hold a special Islamic Summit next August 14- 15 in Mecca.

The Foreign Minister had several talks with his Arab counterparts attending these meetings.

He also met with Qatari officials, including the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jaber Al Thani; Talks focused on ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.
