Rwanda: Kenyan Teams Visit Gisozi Memorial Site

THE Kenyan U-18 men and women basketball teams showed a great deal of sportsmanship by extending their stay in the country to pay homage to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi on Monday afternoon.

The teams were given a brief history of the Genocide that took part in the country and they later laid a wreath at the Gisozi memorial site.

Rwanda Basketball Federation Secretary General Richard Mutabazi, praised the teams for "exercising fair play by delaying their departure and visiting the memorial site."

Kenya won the women's category in the Zone five qualifiers after defeating Rwanda 71-58 while Rwanda won in the men's title 96-34.

Rwanda will represent the region in the African U-18 Men Basketball championships slated for Maputo-Mozambique from August 16-25.

The team starts residential training tomorrow at Amahoro indoor stadium.
