Zimbabwe: Man Up for Raping Unconscious Teenager

Kadoma — A Kadoma man who allegedly choked a teenage girl and raped her while unconscious appeared before a Kadoma magistrate charged with rape.

The 35-year-old man, who was not asked to plead, appeared before Mr Takawira Mugabe and was remanded in custody to July 31 this year.

The accused allegedly choked the teenager, resulting in her losing consciousness.

State prosecutor Mr Nation Nhleya told the court the accused is alleged to have committed the offence on April 23 this year when he entered the complainant's house.

He threatened the victim with death if she screamed.

During the fight, the girl was overpowered and choked until she lost consciousness.

The accused proceeded to rape her in that state, it is alleged.

The matter came to light after the girl regained consciousness and reported the matter to the police, leading to the man's arrest.
