West Africa: Gambia to Host Sub-Regional Wrestling Championship

The Gambia will this October will play host to a four-nation sub-regional wrestling competition. This information was disclosed by the Ecowas director of Youth and Sports, Francis Chuks Njoaguani, during his recent visit to The Gambia.

He said Ecowas will sponsor the championship, adding that wrestling is a traditional sport which the sub-regional body is now promoting. He also noted that since Ecowas started organising the wrestling championship in Senegal, The Gambia has always been participating and has been doing well.

The minister of Youth and Sports, Alieu Jammehwelcomed the idea of Gambia hosting the event, and promised that the country will do everything possible to ensure a successful hosting.
