Lagos — A gunman, operating on motorcycle, yesterday, shot Daily Editor of The Sun Newspaper, Mr. Steve Nwosu, at Mazamaza, Mile 2 area of Lagos.

Although his health condition was unknown at press time, reports said he was in a stable condition and being attended to at a private hospital around the area.

Nwosu, as gathered, went to the Mazamaza branch of a new generation bank to withdraw money. But, unknown to him, he was being trailed by robbers.

It was gathered that as his driver was about negotiating from Agboju to the newspaper's corporate headquarters at Kirikiri, the hoodlums struck.

They reportedly intercepted his vehicle, fired several shots into the air and ordered that the money be handed over to them.

An eyewitness said they shot the editor and made away with the money. His driver reportedly rushed him to the hospital where he is said to be responding to treatment.

When contacted, spokes person for Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, said she was just hearing about the incident. She could not give any detail, but promised to get back to our reporter.
