Huambo — The State Secretary for Agriculture, José Amaro Tati, Wednesday stressed the efforts centred on the country's growth and production of more agriculture products aimed at ensuring food security for Angola citizens.
José Amaro Tati was speaking at the opening of the first Scientific Activities of Agricultural research, running from 25 to 27 this month, in the capital of central Huambo province.
The event will promote discussion on the creation, adaptation and application of Technologies to increase production.
The official added that the implementation of more efficient technologies will raise the incomes of agricultural and livestock producers, increasing the supply, reducing the prices of agricultural and livestock products.
The implementation of technologies will also enable the strengthening food security and socio-economic development of Angola and provide improved living conditions of rural populations.
For winning this challenge, Jose Amaro Tati said it was necessary that agricultural research plays an important role, as it must take the scientific knowledge and its application is becoming an important tool and sometimes essential in the success of the agricultural production process and agricultural business.
The participants at the event will analyse information on the current moment of Agricultural Research in Angola in the most different chapters.
Attending the meeting are researchers and experts from National and foreign institutions, with stress to "Valência" University of Spain, national Institute of Agricultural Research of Mozambique and Technical University of Lisbon, (Portugal).
The event also gathers National personnel of Agricultural Researcher Institute (IIA) and Institute of Veterinary Research (IIV).
