Gambia: Cemiyetul Hayr, IGMG-Hasene Give Food Items to Muslims

Cemiyetul Hayr Relief Organisation in collaboration with its German partner IGMG-HASENE Saturday presented bags of sugar, rice and gallons of cooking oil to Muslims in The Gambia. The presentation ceremony was held at Tallanding Islamic Institute. The IGMG-HASENE is a religious community based in Germany that follows Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) path.

Baba Kujabi, the secretary general of Cemiyetul Hayr Relief Organisation explained that the donation is a gift from their Muslim brothers in Germany and other parts of Europe to the Muslims in The Gambia. "This is the first stage of our distribution, we are starting in the Greater Banjul Area and the beneficiaries include Supreme Islamic Council, Tallanding Islamic Institute, Women Association in Tallanding and Brikima," he said.

He disclosed that they will be heading to Bulluck in Foni, West Coast Region and Kuntaya in North Bank Region where similar donations will be made. "We distributed 130 bags of sugar, 130 bags of rice and 130 gallons of cooking oil in the first stage," he further disclosed.

For his part, Musa Jallow, Cemiyetul Hayr project coordinator said the organisation is a charity with partnersthat are of Turkish origin, based in many European countries. "The partners came to The Gambia in 2000 and approached us if we can work with them," he revealed. He said they do not only bring food items, but also dig wells and engage in other humanitarian relief activities in The Gambia.

Metin Cagil, IGMG-HASENE representative explained that in this holy month of Ramadan 200 of his colleagues are going to 80 countries to distribute foodstuff. "The founder of the association, Necmetin Erbakan, builds mosques in Germany and many other European countries particularly Holland where he built 50 mosques," he revealed.

Sheikh Chiron Darboe, a representative ofSIC, Abubacarr Camera and Landing Gassama all spoke on the importance of the donation to Muslims in the Holy Month of Ramadan.
