Uganda: Zambian Wins Pearl of Africa Rally

Zambian rally ace Mohammed Essa was crowned Champion of the Shell Pearl of Africa Rally on July 15 at UMA showground.

The 23 year-old found no trouble as he led from the start to finish of the 3-day event.

Essa became seventh foreigner to win the event.

He completed the 644.89km in a remarkable 2 hours 38.10 minutes. Jas Magant came second 3 minutes later. The other runner-ups included Giancarlo Davite from Rwanda, Ronald Sebuguzi and Susan Muwonge who finished third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Clinching the second spot in the rally helped Jas Mangat to move to the top of the National Rally Championship (NRC) with 238 points.

The Zambian joked that apart from Mangat, he did not see any other competitor in the race.
