Analysts say only long term interventions would beat future fuel shocks
On July 12, an acute fuel crisis hit Kampala to the extent that some stations started rationing petrol. At one station in the city, no vehicle would get fuel worth more than Shs 30,000 while motorcycles would not be allowed to fill with petrol worth more than Shs 5,000. It is a situation motorists are unhappy about, but unfortunately one that they have come to expect to happen anytime. Fuel crises are common in Uganda mainly resulting from supply chain disruptions between Uganda and Kenya.
