Nigeria: Again, Gunmen Kill Police Inspector in Bauchi

Barely three days when three policemen were killed by yet to be identified gun men along Bauchi-Gombe road, unknown gunmen Friday night again shot dead a Police Inspector, Abdullahi Shehu Itas, in front of his residence in Zango area, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Hassan Mohammed, confirmed the incident to THISDAY yesterday, saying on Friday night around eight o'clock, late Inspector Abdullahi came out from the mosque after he had observed his Tarawih prayer before he met his untimely death.

"The late Inspector Abdullahi was discussing with four people in front of his house when two people came on A motor cycle and approached them. When one of them greeted them and asked them who is Alhaji Abdullahi and he answered in the affirmative, he brought out a gun and shot him, and he died instantly," the police spokesman said.

ASP Hassan said that the gunmen took their motor cycle and ran away to unknown destination, adding that they did not harm or injure anybody, but only targeted the late police officer.

Late Abdullahi Shehu's corpse has since been deposited at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital( ATBUTH), Bauchi.

The deceased was the ADC to the former deputy governor, Alhaji Abdulmalik Mamoud, during the tenure of former Bauchi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mu'azu.
