Enugu — The Nigeria Breweries (NB) Plc, yesterday commissioned an ultra-modern six-classroom blocks it built and donated to Ahiaba High School Ahiaba, in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The company said the gesture was part of its social/corporate responsibilities to the society, including the host community.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Nigeria Breweries, Mr. Nicholas Vervelde, said the gesture was part of the company's commitment to collaborate with government to tackle challenges confronting the nation's education sector.
Vervelde, who was represented by the Brewery Manager, Mr Ukeje Udah, said the six-class room blocks with a total of eight toilets, and a library are fully equipped.
He said the project was funded by the Nigerian brewery Education Trust Fund which was set up in 1994 with a view to anchoring the organization's support initiative for education in the country.
"This fund has over the years been very active in supporting the course of education and learning in Nigeria," he said.
