Port Elizabeth — Mathew Haikali was the only Namibian representative at the 5th Edition of the FIFA/CIES Certificate in Sports Management, which was held at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa earlier this month.
The dreadlocked football administrator, who is a FIFA FUTURO III Regional Instructor in Administration and Management enrolled at the end of last year and has been attending block weeks, which are one week of compulsory classes hosted by the NMMU Southern Campus in Port Elizabeth.
The course, which comprises of modules in strategic sports management, events management, sports marketing, financial management, sports communication, sports law and sports sponsorship is geared towards persons that are involved in the administration of sports or related industries such as clubs and national federations.
Haikali called on fellow Namibians to take up the course as well. "I would like to invite all my colleagues in sports administration to enrol for the next edition that has a due date of 15 August 2012 for application. It is an opportunity to challenge yourself."
