Minna — THE Niger State Coordinator of National Directorate of Employment, Engineer Abdullahi Babaminin Mohammed at the weekend said that of the 100 university graduates that applied for Graduate Attachment Programme (GAP), only 40 were shortlisted by the directorate.
Mohammad, who spoke at the weekend in Minna, said under the programme, the short listed graduates would be posted to government establishments and private institutions as staff, but under the directorate's payroll where they would receive a monthly stipend of N10,000.
The coordinator said some people were not successful because of compatibility with their area of specialization and the requisition forwarded by the various establishments.
He added that of the 500 persons that applied under the vocation skill development this year, 409 graduated after undergoing six months training while the remaining 91 will remain with the directorate until after two years.
Mohammad further stated that the training programme is between six months and two years.
