Eritrea: Inhabitants of Tesenei Sub-Zone Called Upon to Enhance Participation in Endeavors to Prevent Malaria Prevalence

Tesenei — The Health Ministry's branch in Gash-Barka region called on the inhabitants of Tesenei sub-zone to extend a helping hand in endeavors to prevent malaria prevalence resulting from the rainy season. The branch office made the statement at a meeting conducted in Tesenei with elders, community representatives and Area administrators, where the significance of damp area eradication and prevention of mosquito reproduction was deeply discussed.

Dr. Zecarias Malles, head of Tesenei Hospital, called on the local inhabitants to generally focus on widespread practice of environmental hygiene and to seek medical checkup without delay upon noticing symptoms of the disease.

Indicating that morbidity from malaria could greatly be reduced through integrated endeavors by the Ministry and the citizenry, Mr. Teklebirhan Gebrewold, Administrator of Tesenei sub-zone, called on the inhabitants to step up endeavors towards the realization of control of the disease.

The participants of the meeting said that they would exert endeavors in this regard.
