Eritrea: Effective Rain-Fed Farming Activities Underway in Agordat Sub-Zone

Agordat — Effective rain-fed farming activities are being carried out in Agordat sub-zone through integrated endeavors on the part of 12 Administrative areas, farmers and agriculture experts.

Mr. Mohammed Saleh Anja, Administrator of Shelab Administrative area, said that farmers could till their farmlands together with that of families of martyrs in the due time thanks to the availability of tractors. Among the family members of fallen heroes, Mr. Osman Mohammed Ahmed, Mr. Saleh Osman Shelal and Ms. Halima Yasin commended the support extended to them in collaboration with the Government and the local inhabitants.

Mr. Mohammed Ali Mohammed and Mr. Mustafa Mohammed Sheikh Sherif, from Solib - Adseidna Mustafa - area expressed satisfaction with the fair cost of tilling.

The sub-zonal Administration indicated that a total of 2,215 hectares have been tilled in the locality through 17 private and government-owned tractors, besides 606 hectares tilled through traditional ploughing.
