Luanda — The media organs, both local and foreign, must apply for accreditation of their journalists with the National Electoral Communication (CNE) 20 days ahead of the election set for August 31 this year.

This was said Tuesday in Luanda by CNE spokesperson, Júlia Ferreira, while speaking to journalists at the end of the 8th extraordinary session of the body led by André Silva Neto.

According to CNE spokesperson, who would not mention the number of journalists for each media organ, said the measure is intended to facilitate a comprehensive electoral coverage across the country.

She said the plenary session approved the regulation on accreditation of media professionals who will cover the election.

The official also stated that CNE wants to avoid the media professionals to be concentrated in Luanda, and thus facilitate the organisation of working teams operating nationwide.

Júlia Ferreira spoke of the need for journalists to be deployed in all provinces of the country and thus avoid asymmetries in the coverage of the electoral process.
