A Malaysian woman appeared before the Windhoek Magistrate's Court last Friday facing one count of fraud and theft of N$360 000. Lim Kay Hiang (50) appeared before Magistrate Justine Asino.
She was arrested on 26 July. Prosecutor Taodago Gaweseb objected to the accused being granted bail, because she was a foreigner and had other pending cases. "The accused is a Malaysian ... and is being investigated for two other cases," argued the prosecutor. He added that there is a possibility that other cases will be opened against her at a later stage. The amount involved "is quiet high" noted the prosecutor. He then requested that the matter be remanded to September 24.
