Tunisia: Swiss Ambassador to Nation - 'Switzerland Ready to Ease Recovery of Stolen Assets'

Tunis — "Switzerland is ready to make easier the procedures for the recovery of the assets stolen from Tunisia by the Ben Ali and Trabelsi families," announced on Wednesday Swiss ambassador to Tunisia Pierre Combernous during the talk he had with Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Secretary-General Hassine Abassi.

He added that negotiations are presently going on between the Swiss and Tunisian governments on this issue.

The Swiss ambassador commended the UGTT's action and its historical role in the national Liberation Movement and the January 14, 2011 Revolution.

The talk provided the occasion to discuss several issues related to strengthening civil society's role during this transition period and the development of Swiss investment in Tunisia.

In this connection, Mr. Hassine Abassi said that UGTT invites Swiss businessmen to visit Tunisia to find out the investment opportunities, underlining the organisation's readiness to lend a listening ear to their concerns and expectations.
