Photo: Youtube/Sholargirl The aged mother of the convicted former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to late Head of State General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha has passed away after a protracted illness on Wednesday.
Hajiya Fatima Al-Mustapha gave up the ghost at Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) Kano after she returned from Saudi Arabia, where she had gone for medical treatment.
Family sources said she died at the age of 70 year after suffering from a life threatening ailment for more than a decade.
The source added that situation got complicated when she could not set her eyes on her incarcerated son, the former CSO to Gen. Abacha.
It would be recalled that her husband, Al-Mustapha, the father of Hamza, died in 2009 after a protracted illness.
When contacted, the spokesman of the family Alhaji Hadi Al-Mustapha confirmed the death saying what is more painful to the family is that both the late father and the mother could not see their son, Hamza before their deaths.
Hundred of people thronged the family home at Lamido Crescent in Kano, to attend the funeral prayer and sympathise with the family over her death.
Late Fatima was buried according to Islamic rites amidst wailing by relatives, family members and neighbours.
