Namibia: Patient Commits Suicide in Hospital

A 33-YEAR-OLD patient committed suicide at the Katutura State Hospital on Tuesday.

Khomas Deputy Commissioner Silvanus Nghishidimbwa yesterday said Cornelia Nakashole was found hanging in a bathroom at about 14h00.

She left no suicide note.

She was a patient in Ward 5A.

Georg Judman, the senior medical superintendent, yesterday said: "At this point, the investigation is still ongoing and the case is also reported to the Namibian Police for further investigation."

He could not divulge any further information.

"I can only confirm to you that there was a female death in our hospital on July 31 2012 which is under internal and external investigation. However, the reason of death, the details of the patient and what exactly had happened, I cannot give you because these are confidential patient related information and still under investigation."
