Gambia: PA Fye Is Acting Director of Youth and Sports

Pa Suwareh Fye has been appointed as acting director of Youth and Sports. He replaces Malang Jassey, who has been earlier elevated to the position of deputy permanent secretary for Sports at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Confirming his appointment to Observer Sports on Monday at his office in the Independence Stadium, Fye reaffirmed his commitment to revitalise all sports through capacity building, and bringing youths together through sports. However, he said this can only be possible if he receives the necessary support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the general public.

He further stated thatit would be an added advantage if the Department of Youth and Sports could be seen as the technical arm of the Ministry, noting that plans are in the pipeline to create a planning unit which would plan a lot of things for the country both on long and short terms. "I have a very active and committed staff in place and we are working hand-in-glove," he added. Fye finally assured that his doors are open for all those who are willing and ready to move the sports and country forward.
