Liberia: Jamaica Road Residents Appeal to Gov't

Residents of Jamaica Road community are calling on the Government of Liberia to rehabilitate the road passing through the community. The road, which was constructed two years ago by the China Construction Company or CHICO, needs serious rehabilitation, particularly at the interception of Jamaica Road and the route leading to Duala.

In a recent interview with a prominent resident of the community Kollie Mulbah lamented the plight of fellow residents. Mulbah attributed to the rapid dilapidation of the road to lack of drainages. He said the building of drainages along the road could have protected it from erosion.

According to him, the bad road condition has led to serious traffic congestion and several accidents, including destruction of properties. Mulbah is also calling on the government to build durable speed breakers on the Jamaica Road like the ones on Duport Road to avoid motor accident.
