All roads lead to Freedom Farm in Chipinge where a memorial service for the late National Hero, Reverend Ndabaningi Sithole will be held on Saturday.

President Morgan Tsvangirai will be the main speaker at the memorial service.

The late Reverend Sithole is an icon of the liberation struggle for a free Zimbabwe. He was born in Nyamandhlovu on 31 July 1920 and founded the Zimbabwe National Union (Zanu) in July 1963. Reverend Sithole spent 10 years in prison after the then Smith regime banned Zanu. The late reverend is an author of three books on African politics.

He died on 12 December 2000 in Philadelphia, USA and was buried at his Chipinge farm. Despite national calls to declare him a national hero, Robert Mugabe's Zanu PF refused to confer him such an honour.

The MDC recognises sacrifices made by Reverend Sithole as a hero for the people's struggle for real change.

Meanwhile, a memorial service for the late Ambuya Leocardia Mudzuri will be held on 3 and 4 August 2012 at Chivata Village in Zaka. The late Ambuya Mudzuri was the mother of former Harare Mayor and MDC Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Hon Elias Mudzuri.

An all-night vigil will be held tomorrow evening and a church service on Saturday morning before the unveiling of the tombstone.

Ambuya Mudzuri collapsed at her rural home and was pronounced dead on arrival at Ndanga Hospital on 23 March 2012.
