West Africa: Jonathan Hopes for Woman President in Nigeria

Port of Spain — President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed hope that one day women in Nigeria will rise to the level of presidency.

He stated this Wednesday during the Emancipation Day celebrations in Trinidad and Tobago while commending the country for voting in its first female Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Earlier at the training function for Nigerian youths at the National Skills Centre in Couva, Jonathan expressed Nigeria's commitment to sending more of its youths to T&T to acquire training in the oil and gas industry.

It was the third function which Jonathan attended since he started his official state visit on Tuesday.

The event was hosted by Tertiary Education Minister Fazal Karim, who commended 70 Nigerian nationals currently being trained at NESC in the fields of automotive services, industrial mechanical maintenance, shielded metal arc welding and heavy equipment crane operations.

Jonathan said the programme would help Nigeria to produce national heroes for the expansion of the oil and gas industry.

The training programme started just over one year ago and already 85 students have graduated in engineering skills and 43 students are expected to arrive before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Junior Minister of Local Government Rudranath Indarsingh said that T&T's government was ready to deepen fraternal and bilateral ties with Nigeria.

Even a woman president would perform better than this ballless, confused, fish-brained fish doctor.

Shame on him and his backers!
