Nigeria: Immigration Tasks Hoteliers Over Foreigners

Kaduna — All hotels in Kaduna State must provide basic details of their guests to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kaduna comptroller of the serviced, Haruna Dawop, has said.

Dawop said at a meeting with the Kaduna State chapter of the Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA) yesterday that it became necessary for all hotels in the state to capture details of their guests and made it available to the service which will help in tackling illegal migrants that are threatening the security of the state.

Dawap said the security challenges being experience in the country will soon be a thing of the past if all hands are on desk, adding that, "lack of sufficient details of foreigners patronizing hotels in the state is a serious threat. It is now compulsory for all hotels to give us details of their guests. It is part of our new reform of strengthening national security."

"We have noticed that in some hotels, names and basic information of guests are usually being skipped or substituted for unknown reasons. If you have a foreigner in your hotel who doesn't want to disclose his location or identity, report to us.

"There are times we noticed that duration of stay by visitors in the hotel is not divulged. Some guests officially lodge for a day, re-lodged again for almost one week and the hotel management will not bother about the subsequent details," he said.
