Gambia: Husband 'Kills' Wife Over a Bag of Rice

Lrr — One Libelley Ceesay, a native of Kartong Kunda in the Kiang West District of the Lower River Region (LRR) allegedly killed his wife over a bag of rice, Daily Observer was reliably informed.

Narrating the incident, Omar Jawo, the commissioner of Police in LRR said it happened on Monday July 30th 2012, around 6:30am in the said village.

His words: "It all happened at a time when the husband was said to have bought a bag of rice and wanted to share it between his two wives. But the deceased objected to that decision. The husband lost his temper and threatened to kill her by uttering words to that effect and he later proceeded to kill her with a hoe."

Commissioner Jawo said the accused has since been arrested and is currently under police custody helping in their investigation.
