Gambia: Senegambia Hotel Ordered to Enter Into D8 Million Bond

The Gambia Court of Appeal has stayed the execution of the orders of the Commission of Inquiry into Tax Evasion and other Corrupt Practices in the sum of D8, 656, 090.00reportedlyowed to the State by the Senegambia Beach Hotel.

The Court of Appeal, presided over by Justice Joseph Wowo as president, with Justice Naceesay Sallah-Wadda and Justice Amie Joof as members, however, ordered that the appellant enter into a bond with the Registrar of the Court of Appeal in the sum of D8, 656, 090.00.

Both Court orders followed the application filed by the said Hotel for staying the execution of the orders of the adverse findings and/or the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry into Tax Evasion and other Corrupt Practices in The Gambia served on them (the appellant) pending the hearing and determination of an appeal.

The said court orders were rendered in the presence of Bunama Njie, the general manager of Senegambia Beach Hotel, Ida Drammeh, counsel for the appellant (Senegambia Beach Hotel) and M.B Abubakar for the respondent (the State).

The case was adjourned to the 23rd October 2012.
