Nigeria: Alasari Dies in Auto-Crash

IT was a sad moment for Nollywood, as one of the big producers, actors and directors, Mr. Ishola Durojaiye, popularly known as Ahmed Alasari, lost his life in a ghastly motor accident along Abeokuta Expressway in the early hour of Sunday.

According to information gathered by The moment, Durojaiye was on his way to Abeokuta to promote his forth-coming movie, titled Omo Night Club, when he met his untimely death.

Reacting to the sad news, Antar Laniyan, a veteran actor and producer, said: "I have just got the news about his death, and I am still trying to get in touch with our president, Mr. Jide Kosoko. But Ahmed Alasari will be greatly missed, he was very hard working, he was very different, and an herbalist who always wore a bit of Igbo make-up, which made him a very unique person."

Laniyan further said: "He was someone who did not copy anybody. He did his thing in his own unique way. He was known as horror film producer and was not interested in love movies. He was a nice person, who will be missed."

Adebayo Salami, the actor popularly called Oga Bello, described the late actor as a peace-loving person and one of the best directors the industry has produced.

"We have lost a rare gem. He was a quiet and peace-loving person. He never fought and didn't look for trouble."

Another of his colleagues told The moment that "he was a unique person, nice and wonderful. Very down to earth."

Before, his death, Durojaiye produced some blockbuster

movies which include Iyawo Ojokan, Ilu Awon Oku, Igi Ola Mi and Ologbo Iya Ijebu among many others. He was also credited for bringing other young actors into the industry, like Lizzy Anjorin, who has gone on to become a well- known face in Yoruba movie circles, and Adekola Odunnade.
