South Africa: IFP 'Delighted' By KZN By-Election Results

press release

IFP KZN Legislature Caucus Leader, Mr Blessed Gwala, responded to by-election results which took place in KZN yesterday by saying:

"The IFP is delighted with the outcome. The outright victories in uMtshezi and uPhongola once again proves that the ANC/NFP coalition is on the wane. The IFP is proud to have withstood their total onslaught, despite the fact that state resources were used by ANC-led government departments in order to try to defeat the IFP," Gwala said.

"The IFP is furthermore greatly encouraged by the result in Ntambanana where it lost to the ANC by a very small margin. This once again goes to show that the IFP is able to compete successfully against the ANC/NFP coalition and it bodes well for the next election," added Gwala.

"We thank every single person who voted for the IFP. And we call on all newly elected IFP representatives to stand by their pledge of service to the people," concluded Gwala.
