Zambia: Champions Arrows Get Fair Draw

DEFENDING champions, Red Arrows will kick-off their Ndola Sevens Rugby tournament title defence against Nchanga today after been given a fair draw in the 2012 event where K5.5 million is at stake for the winner.

Drawn in Pool C in this championship set for Ndola Wanderers Club, Arrows will also have to contend with Mufulira before wrapping up their group matches with a tie against Roan.

If they manage to pull through from Pool C as leaders, Arrows will have a real test when they come up against the runners-up from Pool B consisting of Green Eagles, Heroes Sevens champions 'Powerhouse' Lusaka, Konkola and Kansanshi.

'Men at Work' Diggers, winners of four Cup competitions this year, are seeded first in Pool A ahead of hosts 'Killer Bees' Ndola Wanderers, Copperbelt University (CBU) and Kitwe Playin Fields (KPF).

Green Buffaloes were drawn in a seemingly easy Pool D where they will battle with Chibuluma, Prisons and Nkwazi for a place in the quarter-finals in the tournament, whose runners-up would get K3 million and a women's rugby match will spice up the event.

First Quantum Minerals, P and B Wholesalers, Gomes Haulage, Ozark Springs, Ngansa Pharmaceuticals and Zambia Army's commando unit are the sponsors for the tournament.
