Namibia: Student Set Alight and Stoned to Death

THE police are searching for the murderer(s) of a student at the International University of Management (IUM) who was set on fire and stoned to death over the weekend.

Eliakim Kandali Inane (31) died between Friday and Saturday morning in the Otjomuise residential area.

Khomas Deputy Commissioner Silvanus Nghishidimbwa said Inane's body was found by someone who was collecting wood.

The police found a burned-out taxi close to where Inane's body was found.

Inane was believed to have been stoned to death, after which his body was set alight. The post-mortem is expected to shed more light on his death.

The taxi found near the scene belonged to Inane's cousin. Nghishidimbwa said Inane was asked to drive the taxi for the day.

By yesterday afternoon, no one had been arrested in connection with the murder.
