Sudan: Arab League Welcomes Agreement Between Sudan and South Sudan On Oil File

The Arab League welcomed Sunday the agreement between Sudan and South Sudan on oil file in a step to put an end to the differences between the two countries.

The Arab League's Deputy Secretary General, AmbassadorÙˆ Ahmad bin Hali, said in a press release that the Arab league's envoy in Khartoum has been in Addis Ababa and contributed to reaching the agreement between Sudan and South Sudan under the chairmanship of the chairman of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel, Thabo Mbeki.

Ambassador bin Hali has expressed hope that the two negotiating delegations will be able resolve all pending issues such as the security and border issues in addition to Abyei issue. The Arab League's Deputy Secretary General affirmed necessity of resolving the outstanding files peacefully and in a fraternal way, indicating that the solution of the oil file is important step to resolve the other outstanding issues.
