Sierra Leone: 'I Can Attract More Support for NDA'

One of the aspirants for the flag-bearer position of the National Democratic Alliance NDA yesterday stated that he has all what it takes to attract more support for the party to win the November 17 polls despite its challenges.

Declaring his intention to run for the party's presidential ticket, Alhaji Wurie Musidal Jalloh said he is an advocate for a better Sierra Leone, where everyone enjoys the nation's wealth.

He noted that his intention to contest for the party's top position was as a result of the current high unemployment rate among youths and women, high cost of living, corruption, discrimination based on tribe, poverty and indiscipline.

"I consider myself a very good candidate to run against the two big political parties - APC and SLPP. I am highly qualified by age, well-determined and motivated and I can attract the much-needed support for the party," he said adding that he is democratic and highly determined to uphold the tenets of a multi-party system of government under his leadership and also defend and promote the mission and vision of the NDA.

Alhaji Jalloh accused the Sierra Leone People's Party SLPP and the All People's Congress APC of introducing discrimination and hatred into the fabric of the nation's politics, for the present economic hardship and developmental inadequacies.

"I hail from the Bombali district, north of the country and therefore my candidature will no doubt split the votes in that part of the country based on my good services to my people. The APC will have no way in preaching tribalism or regionalism against me," he added.

He opined that what the NDA needs is unity, solidarity and common determination to succeed and above all elect a presidential candidate that has the vision, national appeal, maturity and sense of responsibility.

Alhaji Jalloh is the second person to declare for NDA's top position after Mohamed Pateh Bah. The party's convention is slated for the end of August.
