Sudan: Hundreds Homeless After Flooding in South Darfur

Id Alfursan — About 600 homes were washed away in Id-Alfursan, South Darfur, after torrential rains flooded the Kaya Valley on Sunday. In addition, hundreds of farms were inundated.

Witnesses informed Radio Dabanga that besides the 600 homes, dozens of markets and shops in Id-Alfursan were also destroyed. About 70 sheep died and 200 farms of millet, peanuts and vegetables were inundated.

Sources said that currently hundreds of families do not have shelter, food nor medicine. They appealed to the local authorities and humanitarian organizations to provide them aid and assistance.
