A member of the House of Representatives from Adamawa State, Hon. Ahmadu Fons Nwangubi has thrown his weight behind Super Eagles Head Coach Stephen Keshi to exclude Osaze Odemwingie and Mikel from the squad that would confront Liberia in the all-important World Cup qualifier next month.
The parliamentarian, who spoke to reporters in Abuja, also appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation and football followers in the country to allow the coach free hands to do his job.
According to him, Nigeria has capable players, particularly from the local league to replace the duo in the national team; stressing that what the country needs at the moment are tireless players who are hungry for success.
"I am in support of Keshi on his decision not to invite Osaze and Mikel for the match against Liberia. I like Osaze, but we have capable replacements for them. We need players that can play for more than 90 minutes without getting tired.
"Those of them who have made money and are always afraid of injuries whenever they are playing for the country should be left out for those that are hungry for success to come, and there are many of them around. Before now, who knew that Ejike is there", Hon. Nwangubi stated.
