South Africa: Semenya Qualifies for Women's 800m Semis

South Africa's Caster Semenya qualify competes in the women's 800m heats held at the Olympic Stadium in London.

Pretoria — Caster Semenya qualified for the semi-finals of the women's 800 meters at the London Olympic Games on Wednesday.

The Limpopo-born runner finished in second position in 2:00:71 to qualify for tomorrow night's semi-finals (8.30pm SA time) and then for the final on Saturday night (9pm SA time).

The qualifying heat was won by American runner Alysia Johnson Montano, who finished in 2:00:47, while Halima Hachlaf of Morocco finished in third position in 2:00:99.
