Libya: Iranian Red Crescent Delegation Seized

Seven members of the Iranian Red Crescent on an official visit to Libya were taken by force in Benghazi by unknown armed men on 31 July.

In close contact with all the relevant actors, including the Libyan Red Crescent, the Iranian Red Crescent, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the ICRC hopes for a quick resolution to this crisis.

In its capacity as neutral intermediary, the ICRC stands ready to facilitate the release of the seven Iranian Red Crescent members.
