Nigeria: Okorocha Accuses Council Chairmen of Seeking Tenure Elongation

As the tenure of the embattled chairmen and councillors of the 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State expires Thursday, the state Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has described the ex-parte order they obtained from the court as an attempt to seek tenure elongation.

Okorocha argued that the tenure of the officials will expire today, having been sworn into office on August 9, 2010.
