Angola: Minister Hails President's Commitment to Agrarian Development

Lubango — The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Afonso Pedro Canga, praised on Wednesday in Lubango city, southern Huíla province, the commitment of the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, to the development of agro-industrial sector and support to agricultural business people.

The official said so while addressing the opening ceremony of the 9th edition of the five-day agro-livestock fair in Huíla province.

Afonso Pedro Canga said that the Angolan President topped as priority the agriculture sector, aiming for the eradication of hunger and poverty in the country.

"The products displayed in the fair are regarded as the outcomes of the public policies that the executive has been implementing in the last ten years of peace in the country", said the minister.

He said that the strategic magnitude of the Head of State has enabled the agricultural policies to result in positive outcomes, provided that various agro-industrial undertakings were built in order to resolve the population's basic problems.

The agro-livestock fair, opened on Wednesday, counts on the participation of 25 big farmers from the provinces of Huíla, Namibe, Cunene and Kuando Kubango, as well as a small group of traditional cattle breeders.
