Egypt: Morsi Receives Invitation to Attend Tehran Nam Summit

President Mohamed Morsi received an invitation to the upcoming summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran on August 29-30 during a meeting he had on Wednesday 8/8/2012 with a personal envoy of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Cairo.

The meeting between Morsi and the envoy, Iranian Vice President Hamid Baqai, was attended by Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr, Head of the Iranian Interest Section in Egypt Mojtaba Amani and the head of the international affairs office of Iran's presidential administration Mohammad-Reza Farqani.

Egyptian presidential Spokesman Yasser Ali said on Tuesday 7/8/2012 that President Morsi has not decided yet whether he will attend the summit or not.

Egypt will hand over the three-year rotating presidency of the NAM to Iran during the summit, which apart from the NAM member states will be also attended by representatives of 30 international organizations.
