Photo: Africom Luanda — The general inspector of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), general Rafael Sapilinha "Sambalanga" passed away on Tuesday in the Republic of Cuba, victim of disease, says a press note from the Ministry of National Defence.
The document, signed by the Defence Minister Cândido Pereira dos Santos Van-Dúnem, reads that late general "Sambalanga" embraced from his early age the cause of the motherland, contributing meaningfully and exemplarily to the conquest and preservation of the national independence and peace.
"In this time of grief and mourning, on behalf of the Ministry of National Defence I bend on my knee before the memory of the late general and I express my heart felt sympathy to the National Defence General Inspection and family", reads the message.
In another note, the Headquarters of FAA regrets the general Sambalanga's death and on behalf of general officers and all staff of the Angolan Armed Forces and extends its condolences to the mourning family.
O general "Sambalanga" was born on 12 August in 1950 in Cameia district, eastern Moxico province.
He joined MPLA on 24 June in 1966, at then third political and military region as warrior.
