Gambia: Moys to Stage Youth, Sports Summer Camp

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is organising its first edition of the Youth and Sports Summer camp to be held from the 25th of August to the 5th of September 2012, at the Friendship Hostel, Independence Stadium Bakau.

Pa Suwareh Faye, acting director of Youth and Sports explained that the camp is targeting those between 10-15, and that all one needs is a passport photo and a registration fee of D300 to take part in the camp. He said they are expecting 10 participants from each region of the country.

According to him, the camp is part of the Ministry's efforts to decentralise its activities to the grassroots, noting that during the camp, participants will be trained on techniques of games such as football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and athletics, among others. "Participants will also embark on tree planting and cleaning exercise, as well as site visits. It will be an interactive and educative one," he added.
