DYNAMOS, who are walking with a spring in their step after picking seven points in the last three big matches, are looking at grinding another victory when they meet lowly Blue Rangers at Rufaro tomorrow afternoon.
For Rangers, it is also their pay day and the fattest cheque this season as they host the Harare giants and the Premiership cash cows. But the minnows have vowed that they will not only go to the bank smiling, but are also looking at getting something from the pitch as well.
In the reverse tie, the match ended with a tennis scoreline of 6-0 as the Dynamos youthful duo of Farai Mupasiri and Tichaona Mabvura announced their arrival on the big scene with a goal each and Orlando Pirates striker Takesure Chinyama grabbing a hat-trick whilst Rodrick Mutuma completed the rout.
A lot has changed since that game and winds of change have swept at Blue Rangers with nomadic gaffer, Partson Ndabambi, now the coach. The club also acquired players during the transfer window following the departure of a number of players who dumped the financially embattled team.
The Glamour Boys assistant coach, Tichaona Diya, who is now sporting a clean-shaven head, departing from his trademark dreadlocks, believes matches against Highlanders (1-1), CAPS United (1-0) and against FC Platinum have been the turning point.
"Teams like Blue Rangers want to spoil the party, but the players are motivated and don't see them losing points just like that.
"The stage which the players have reached is a top gear and no one can stop them as they are self-motivated.
"We want to win the league at the end of the season and we have to win matches. The team we played in the first half is no longer the same team as there have been a number of changes, but it is a must-win game for us," said Diya.
Diya believes their African Safari adventure in both the Champions League and the Confederation Cup has given the team a cutting edge.
"The players really learnt a lot and got experience which is now coming handy when playing league matches.
"They have developed that character, that fighting spirit such that even if they concede early goals they know what to do and come back into the game and win that match," said Diya.
Yesterday, the team was joined in their last session by the duo of goalkeeper George Chigova and Denver Mukamba who were in Zambia with the Warriors and had light training and are in the team. However, Partson Jaure will miss the match after he picked a groin injury in the international friendly match against Chipolopolo and Guthrie Zhokinyi has replaced the young defender in the team.
Zambian Derrick Kabwe and Devon Chafa remain on the sidelines with injuries. Diya urged the league's leaders to resolve their contentious game against Hwange.
"The Hwange match is now confusing us as coaches. There is an appeal and the points haven't been reinstated.
"As the technical team we are not happy with the replay as we were not called to the hearing, but we were there and saw what transpired as those coaches were never beaten.
"The match will cost us in the later stages and the sooner they conclude issues about the game the better," said Diya. Blue Rangers' assistant coach and former Dynamos striker, Garikayi Mukangairwa, says they were ready to ambush the Harare giants.
"The players are geared up and there should be a change in their play. Dynamos can be beaten and their fans raise the game for them making the atmosphere intimidating.
"But we hope to restrict them in the first half and make sure they don't score a goal.
"We have some youngsters who have joined the club like David Temwanjira, the younger brother of Mike and Jealous Wilson while seasoned players such as Pedzisai Gumiremhete and Lawrence Mwashita are some of the players who joined during the window."
The team, captained by Nyasha Chazika, also have some fire power in former CAPS United Norest Mkwezvaramba.
