Tunisia: Germany Ready to Energise Co-Operation With Tunisia in Humanitarian Field and Peace-Keeping

Tunis — Germany's new Ambassador to Tunisia Jens Uwe Plotner said that his country is ready to help reinforce skills of the Tunisian army in the fields of logistics, training and improve humanitarian actions and participate in UN peace-keeping missions in Africa.

He expressed Germany's concern to make Tunisia's democratic transition process a success.

The German diplomat commended, when meeting National Defense Minister Abdelkrim Zbidi, the role of the Tunisian Army before and after the Tunisian Revolution and their effort in hosting refugees during Libya's uprising.

In turn, Mr. Zbidi hailed the Tunisian-German co-operation which reached, according to him, a "privileged level". He expressed the Tunisian Army's keenness to develop skills, learn from military institutions in democratic countries and make the most of their experience.
