By Friday evening, reports from Miss Rwanda 2012 organisers indicate that 30 contestants have so far been registered for Kigali City pre-selection.
This stands to be the highest number of contestants registered ever since the pre-selection exercise started last month.
Northern Province pre-selection attracted seven contestants which was the smallest compared to the Western and Eastern Province that attracted 12 contestants each.
Speaking to The New Times, the Art Director of Miss Rwanda 2012, Jolie Murenzi said that it will be a tight contest this Sunday at Kigali Serena hotel, as Kigali selects the three beauty queens to represent it in this years Miss Rwanda.
"We have made sure that we abide by the rules of the competition and we are convinced that this contest will bring out the most competitive lady as Miss Rwanda, to represent our country in the region and beyond," she said.
The pre-selection this Sunday is the last and will see three more contestants join the other twelve selected in the Provinces.
"As it is always the system, the team of 15 will then be brought together in a camp where they will undergo various trainings all aimed at building their skills for perfect and effective competition that will take place next month," she said.
The event was last held in 2009. This year's beauty pageant is held under the theme "Beauty with a Purpose; Unifying Rwandan Beauty and Culture."
