Egypt: Qandil Warns That Power Rationalization to Be Compulsory in Future

Prime Minister Hisham Qandil made an appeal to citizens to rationalize power consumption, warning that it might be compulsory in the future.

"If rationalization was not pursued willingly now, it will be compulsory in the future," he told a press conference on Friday 10/08/2012.

Qandil also said that Egyptians are dealing with Egypt's natural resources in an "unacceptable way".

"We consume all our wealth of gas and petroleum," he added.

Egypt has been beset by frequent power outages across the country since the hot summer months began.
